Silver Ridge Rabbitry New Zealand White Rabbits

In the News

We are new company, we caught the rabbit bug, and it is a bug and we are entirely hooked.

The rabbit fever started almost 2 years ago now, and I am adicted to searching craigslist for rabbit related things.

I am much adicted to craigslist and will hopefully plug the site there soon.

I have recently purchaced some cages on bass equiptment's website and was very impressed with the cages, and would highly recomend them, but upon calling them the person I spoke to on the phone said that they no longer have a supplier for the heat tape that they had, the great thing about the heat tape is that you can put it in the water pipe. I would much love a watering system but living in the extreme cold climate that we live in in the State of Vermont, you need to make it very freeze proof. I am interested in any feedback you may have regarding a place to get heat tape, or ideas for a freeze proof watering system.

I have found a website that sells heated water bottles, but they are $24.99 per bottle, I also found them at the local Blue Seal Feed Store a little cheaper.  http://www.petvetsupply.com/peqmfrm007.html

Thanks so much for all your great comments, and sugestions, I have included a few below:

" I see your question about keeping water from freezing.
I wondered this too. Is heat tape the answer? I'm not sure.
I noticed most people don't heat their rabbit sheds since the rabbits do just fine
in the cold and it would be too expensive.
But if you consider that the electricity of running the heat tape PLUS the extra feed that is
consumed to keep them warm I wonder if it might be nearly as economical to heat a structure to, say 38 degrees.  That way the water freezing isn't an issue and the feed consumed would be less. Ventilation is also a consideration though.
Most people struggle with a cold uninsulated shed. Maybe a well insulated structure
with some south facing glazing might work instead."  Steve

Heated bowls are a link from Roger, he says they are slightly expensive. This was a neat site for me because they are raising NZW and Satin Rabbits
